Metered is developed by Cocoacorn. This privacy policy explains how the Metered app handles your data. Effective 7 April 2026; last updated 8 April 2026.

Introduction

Metered ("we", "us", "our") is developed by Cocoacorn. This privacy policy explains how the Metered app handles your data.

Data We Collect

We do not collect any data. Metered does not have user accounts, does not use analytics services, and does not include any third-party SDKs that collect data.

Data Stored on Your Device

Metered stores your energy profile, activity templates, day plans, planned activities, day outcomes, crash events, and wearable health snapshots locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to enable iCloud sync.

Apple Health

If you grant permission, Metered reads health data from Apple Health to personalise your daily energy budget. Data accessed includes:

  • Heart rate variability (HRV)
  • Resting heart rate
  • Active energy burned
  • Sleep analysis
  • Step count

This health data is used solely to adjust your daily budget and is displayed alongside your plan. Health data is never stored permanently in Metered's database beyond the daily summary, never synced to iCloud as health data, and never sent to any server.

Tended Data Import

If you choose to import data from Tended (a separate app by Cocoacorn), Metered reads Tended's local database from a shared App Group container on your device. This transfer happens entirely on-device — no data is sent to any server. Imported data includes journal entries, activities, day ratings, and PEM crash records, which are used to create activity templates, day plans, day outcomes, and crash events in Metered.

Apple Watch

If you use the Metered Apple Watch app, your energy budget and day plan are transferred to your Watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. Activity completion updates are sent back to your iPhone. This transfer happens directly between your devices and does not pass through any external server.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. This data is:

  • Stored in your private iCloud database, accessible only to you
  • Encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
  • Not accessible to Cocoacorn or any third party

We do not operate any servers. We cannot read, access, or process your iCloud data.

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings. Your local data is not affected.

Crash Prediction

Metered's crash prediction feature analyses your planned activities, recent day outcomes, and health signals to estimate crash risk. This analysis happens entirely on your device. No data is sent to any server, and no machine learning models are trained on your data outside your device.

In-App Purchases

Metered offers optional premium features via in-app purchase, processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information. Purchase records are managed by Apple in your Apple ID account.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, Metered may send local reminders to plan your day or review your day. These notifications are generated on your device and are not sent through any external push notification service.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time via Settings. This permanently removes all energy profiles, activity templates, day plans, outcomes, crash events, and wearable snapshots from your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, data is also removed from your iCloud account.

Children's Privacy

Metered does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app does not collect any data from any user.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL and reflected in the app.
