Guidance, not proof of a treatment

These sources inform general design and safety principles. They do not test or endorse Quieted, its spaces, sounds, or presets. Quieted is general-wellness entertainment, not medical advice or treatment.

Energy limits: NICE NG206

NICE’s ME/CFS guidance includes cognitive, physical, emotional, and social activity in energy management. Recommendations 1.11.2–1.11.3 recognise individual, changing limits and the sensory environment. This informs optional interaction and permission to stop, not a safe session length. Quieted cannot assess your energy limit or replace an individual care plan.

Sensory sensitivity: NICE NG206

Recommendations 1.17.2–1.17.4 concern severe or very severe ME/CFS. Some people need a very low-stimulus environment, and interactions can risk worsening symptoms. Quieted’s reduced-input options are not a guarantee of tolerability. No screen use may be the better choice; using Quieted is not necessarily rest.

Delayed worsening: CDC

CDC describes post-exertional malaise (PEM) after physical or mental effort, with worsening often delayed by 12–48 hours. Feeling comfortable during play does not establish that it was within your limits. Quieted cannot detect PEM or prescribe a safe amount of activity.

Light and sound: NHS migraine guidance

NHS guidance describes sensitivity to light and sound with migraine and suggests a darkened room during an attack. This supports offering less sensory input, not recommending screen use. Quieted’s Migraine preset is a convenience setting, not migraine treatment, and may still be uncomfortable.
