Privacy Policy — Tended

Introduction

Tended ("we", "us", "our") is developed by Cocoacorn. This privacy policy explains how the Tended app handles your data.

Data We Collect

We do not collect any data. Tended does not have user accounts, does not use analytics services, and does not include any third-party SDKs that collect data.

Data Stored on Your Device

Tended stores your journal entries, symptoms, medications, triggers, food, body map data, photos, custom fields, appointment notes (Things to Discuss), discussion notes, allergy profiles, flare plans, emergency info cards, trigger experiments, and preferences locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to enable iCloud sync.

Apple Health

If you enable Health integration, Tended reads health data (such as steps, heart rate, sleep, water intake, and other metrics you choose) from Apple Health. This data is displayed alongside your journal entries. Water intake data may be used to auto-fill your Hydration custom field when creating a new entry. Health data is never stored in Tended's database beyond the custom field value, never synced to iCloud as health data, and never sent to any server.

Weather Data

If you enable weather tracking, Tended uses Apple's WeatherKit to capture weather conditions at the time of each journal entry. Weather data is stored locally with your entry and synced via iCloud only if you enable iCloud sync. No location data is stored or transmitted to Cocoacorn.

Photos

If you attach photos to journal entries, they are stored locally on your device. Photos are included in iCloud sync only if you enable it. Photos are never sent to Cocoacorn or any third party.

On-Device AI

The "Describe your day" feature uses Apple Intelligence (Apple's Foundation Models framework) to parse your text into structured data. This processing happens entirely on your device. No text is sent to any server — not to Apple, not to Cocoacorn, not to any third party.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, your journal data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. This data is:

• Stored in your private iCloud database, accessible only to you
• Encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
• Not accessible to Cocoacorn or any third party

We do not operate any servers. We cannot read, access, or process your iCloud data.

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings. Your local data is not affected.

Apple Watch

If you use the Tended Apple Watch app, entries created on your Watch are transferred to your paired iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. This transfer happens directly between your devices and does not pass through any external server.

In-App Purchases

Tended offers optional premium features via in-app purchase, processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information. Purchase records are managed by Apple in your Apple ID account.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time via Settings → Delete All Data. This permanently removes all journal entries, symptoms, medications, custom fields, appointment notes, discussion notes, allergy profiles, flare plans, trigger experiments, bowel logs, and photos from your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, data is also removed from your iCloud account.

Backup & Restore

Tended allows you to create full backups of your data (including photos) as a .tendedbackup file stored locally or in iCloud Drive. Backup files are not encrypted by Tended — they contain your raw journal data. You are responsible for the security of backup files you export or share. Automatic backups to iCloud Drive can be enabled in Settings.

Children's Privacy

Tended does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app does not collect any data from any user.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL and reflected in the app.
