Backup & restore

From the app’s English Help & Guide · Reference release 1.0.5

A backup is a readable .accommodatedbackup archive containing app records and available attachments. Backups are separate from CloudKit sync and are not encrypted by Accommodated.

Automatic backups

Automatic Backups runs about once per day in the background or when the app opens. Files are written to iCloud Drive in Accommodated › Backups, and the app keeps the most recent seven. You can turn Automatic Backups off separately in More › Data › Backup & Restore.

Manual backup

Tap Back Up Now and save the resulting file somewhere you control. Because it can contain health, employment, dispute, and attachment data in readable form, prefer encrypted or access-controlled storage rather than ordinary email or a broadly shared folder.

Restore safely

Restore replaces the current local data rather than merging it. Both the requested iCloud Sync setting and the sync mode active for this launch must be off. Turn sync off, restart Accommodated, choose the backup, review the preview, restore, and check the result before deciding whether to enable sync again.

Delete backup files separately

Deleting app records or uninstalling Accommodated does not delete backup files already saved in Files, iCloud Drive, a USB drive, or another destination. Remove those copies separately when you no longer need them.
