AI Enhancements
From the app’s English Help & Guide · Reference release 1.0.12
AI Enhancements uses Apple’s on-device language model to classify ambiguous ingredients (“natural flavourings”, “modified starch”) and to explain ingredient-scan results in plain English.
Where your data goes
Nowhere. Every prompt, ingredient, and result stays on your device. Nothing is sent to Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or Cocoacorn. The model itself also runs on-device — no network call is made.
What it never does
AI Enhancements never overrides a dictionary match. If the parser flags “wheat” as a gluten trigger, that stays authoritative. The AI layer only adds information on top — never flips a known rating.
What happens with it off
Scans still work. Dictionary matches still run. Ambiguous terms stay flagged as “ambiguous” instead of being classified. Verdict cards show matched ingredients without the plain-English explanation.
Devices
Requires a compatible iPhone or iPad with Apple Intelligence available. On unsupported devices the toggle is hidden and scanning falls back to the deterministic dictionary path.
