Body map
From the app’s English Help & Guide · Reference release 1.0.27
The body map lets you mark exactly where you’re feeling pain, numbness, tingling, or any other physical sensation. Tap anywhere on the body to drop a pin, then describe what it feels like.
Dropping pins
Tap anywhere on the body to drop a pin at that spot. Tended automatically classifies the pin into the nearest anatomical region from more than 80 defined areas across front, back, and side views — jaw, shoulders, chest, elbows, wrists, hands, abdomen, hips, knees, calves, ankles, feet, plus spine zones on the back. Drag a pin to move it; double-tap to remove it. Tap an existing pin to edit its severity, sensations, and notes.
Pinch to zoom
Pinch in to zoom up to 2× for the small areas — fingers, toes, jaw, individual knuckles. Drag with one finger to pan around when zoomed. Double-tap empty space to snap back to 100%, or tap the percentage pill in the top corner.
Sensations
Each pin can carry one or more sensation descriptors that explain what it feels like — 33 options across seven categories: Pain, Nerve, Skin, Movement, Joint, Vascular, and Allergic. A pin can hold multiple sensations at once (e.g. “Sharp” + “Burning” for neuropathic pain). The first sensation you pick becomes the primary one; its icon shows on the pin face.
Severity
Every pin has a severity from 1 to 10 on the same scale as the rest of Tended. Pin colour reflects severity (green at low, amber at mid, red at high) so the body reads as a heatmap at a glance. Set severity on the picker, or adjust it directly from the journal entry without re-opening the picker.
Joint events
The Joint category includes event descriptors for hypermobility and EDS: Subluxed, Dislocated, Gave way, Hyperextended, Unstable, Clicking, Locking, Grinding, and Swollen. These track discrete joint incidents, not just pain. The Insights hub shows joint event patterns — which joints are most affected, how often, and whether frequency is changing.
Temporal comparison
In the Insights hub, your body map shows what’s changed — new regions, resolved regions, and areas that have worsened or improved compared to the previous period.
Carry forward
If you enable carry forward in More › Journal › Carry Forward, yesterday’s pins (including severity and sensations) are pre-filled in today’s entry. You can adjust what’s changed or drop new pins.
