Triggers

From the app’s English Help & Guide · Reference release 1.0.27

Triggers are factors that may affect how you feel — things like stress, weather changes, poor sleep, or specific sensory inputs. Tracking them helps Tended find patterns between triggers and your symptoms.

Adding triggers to an entry

Tap “Add” next to Triggers in the entry editor. Select from your list or create a new one with a custom name and icon.

Sensory and food categories

Triggers are grouped by category in the picker and management screens. In Add/Edit Trigger, type any category name, or choose an existing category from the checked list. Tended can still apply sensible defaults for known starter triggers, such as Food & Diet or sensory categories, when the category is blank.

Specific vs general triggers

Logging specific triggers like “Overlapping conversations” or “Fluorescent lights” gives you more actionable insights than broad ones like “Noise”. The more specific you are, the better Tended can pinpoint what’s actually affecting you.

Managing triggers

Go to More › Tracking, turn on Triggers if needed, then use Manage in the Triggers row to add, rename, categorise, or archive triggers. When you add conditions in onboarding, common triggers for those conditions are created automatically.

Trigger correlations

With enough data, the Insights hub shows which triggers appear more often on your bad days and good days. Check the “What affects you” card for the largest observed differences. Trigger records also contribute to pre-flare pattern summaries, flow diagrams, and your health reports.
