Carry forward

From the app’s English Help & Guide · Reference release 1.0.33

Carry Forward pre-fills new entries with the sections you choose from your most recent entry. It is designed for low-energy days when those details are still mostly true.

Where to find it

Open More › Journal › Carry Forward. Choose what carries forward into today’s entry: energy, sleep, bowel movements, mood, symptoms, triggers, food and drink, medications, activities, relief methods, body map pins, and custom fields. Bowel movements include each recorded type and the total count. Mood copies your selected moods. Review these details before saving.

Using Same as yesterday

Long-press the + button on the Journal timeline and choose Same as yesterday. This copies the previous entry’s tracking details regardless of your Carry Forward switches, leaving reflection and photos out. Review today’s entry and adjust what changed.

What to carry

Carry persistent things such as long-running symptoms, regular medications, ongoing activities, body areas, or stable custom fields. Be cautious with one-off triggers, foods, reflections, and anything that could make your log look more certain than it was.

Review carry-forward choices

Understand what may be pre-filled in a new entry.

You can review these choices without changing them. Use the normal app controls only if you decide a change is useful.

An arrow connects matching green cards in two journals while other cards remain in the first.

Review carry-forward choices: steps

  1. Inspect Carry Forward Read the available Carry Forward options and which details they affect.
  2. Choose useful defaults Keep only the details you want to review in your next entry. A carried value is a starting point, not proof it is still true.
  3. Check each new entry When you later open an entry, review the pre-filled details and change anything that no longer fits before saving.
  4. Finish your review Tap Done at the end of these steps, or open Guide details and tap Finish review. This finishes the guide; it does not confirm a setting change or transfer.

Yesterday’s selection appears again

Review it for today; pre-filling is not a new observation.

Review carry-forward choices: troubleshooting

If an old detail keeps appearing, review this setting and the new entry before saving. Changing a preference does not rewrite older records.
