Custom labels

Custom labels let you rename day rating and severity wording so Tended uses language that fits your body, symptoms, and clinical conversations.

Day rating labels

Open More › Journal › Custom Labels to rename the 1–5 day rating labels. Choose short words that reflect how you describe your days.

Severity labels

You can also rename symptom severity labels so a 1–10 scale reads in words that make sense to you. This helps when “mild” or “severe” does not match how you describe a symptom.

Where labels appear

Custom labels appear in journal entry screens, summaries, widgets where space allows, Doctor Mode, and reports. They do not change the underlying numbers, so Insights and CSV export still work consistently.

Tended+

Custom labels are part of Tended+. If Tended+ is not active, Tended uses the standard day rating and severity wording.

Choose what appears in your journal and review its labels.

To complete this task, change a tracking choice you want to change, then open a list. If your setup already suits you, read the steps and use End guide without changing anything.

Choose what Tended tracks: steps

1. Review the available fields Look through Tracking. Keep fields that help you and leave others off.
2. Change one choice if useful Turn a field on or off only if that is what you want. The guide advances after a real tracking change.
3. Choose a list to review Find Lists & categories and choose which list you want to inspect, such as Symptoms or Medications.
4. Open and review the list Open your chosen list and review its labels. Opening it finishes the guide; adding, renaming or deleting labels is optional.

If the guide is waiting, it has not observed a tracking change or the requested list being opened. You can end it without changing anything.

You can review these choices without changing them. Use the normal app controls only if you decide a change is useful.

Review your rating labels: steps

1. Read the current labels In Custom Labels, inspect the rating and severity labels available to edit.
2. Keep the order clear If you change wording, keep a clear progression across the scale. Review each label before leaving.
3. Check the meaning Labels change how values are described. They do not rewrite the numeric ratings already saved in your journal.
4. Finish your review Tap Done at the end of these steps, or open Guide details and tap Finish review. This finishes the guide; it does not confirm a setting change or transfer.

If a label feels ambiguous, revise it or use the reset option offered by the screen. Reviewing this guide does not reset your labels.
