Custom fields
From the app’s English Help & Guide · Reference release 1.0.27
Custom fields let you log anything Tended doesn’t have built in. Open More › Tracking, use Manage in the Custom Fields row, then choose Create a custom field.
Field types
There are seven types to choose from:
• Scale — rate on a custom range (e.g. cognitive function 1–5) • Slider — drag along a range when a continuous-feeling control is easier • Counter — count occurrences (e.g. subluxation count) • Yes / No — simple toggle (e.g. mobility aid used) • Note — free text or Tags for qualitative notes and repeatable labels • Duration — time in hours and minutes (e.g. rest time) • Number — numeric value with optional unit (e.g. temperature °C)
Control styles
Custom fields support 18 control styles, matched to the field type: circles, pills, labelled scales, faces, Slider, stepper, fillable, tally, switches, switch + scale, text, Tags, duration presets, duration wheel, numeric input, gauge, and vital readout. Choose the control that will be quickest to use on a low-energy day.
Condition suggestions
If you’ve selected conditions in your profile, Tended suggests relevant custom fields. For example, ME/CFS users see “Cognitive Function” and “Crash Severity”. Tap the + button to add a suggestion with one tap.
Correlations
Scale, slider, counter, number, duration, and yes/no fields are automatically included in the correlation engine. If a custom field value consistently differs between lower-rated and higher-rated days, it may appear in your “What affects you” insights. Note and Tags fields stay in your journal and reports, but are not treated as numeric correlation inputs.
Archiving and deleting
Swipe left on a field to archive it (hides from the editor but keeps all logged data) or delete it (removes the field and all its values permanently). Archived fields can be restored at any time from the bottom of the management screen. Adding, editing, or deleting custom field values in an entry counts as an unsaved change, so Tended asks before discarding it.
