iCloud Sync
From the app’s English Help & Guide · Reference release 1.0.33
iCloud Sync keeps your Tended journal available on your Apple devices using your private CloudKit database. There is no Tended account and Cocoacorn cannot read your synced health data.
What syncs
Journal entries, tracking lists, custom fields, appointments, discussion notes, reports metadata, settings, allergy profiles, Major Events, and attached photos can sync through iCloud when iCloud Sync is on.
Turning it on
Open More › Data › iCloud Sync. Make sure you are signed in to iCloud, iCloud Drive is enabled, and Tended is allowed to use iCloud. If you turn sync on or off, Tended may ask you to restart the app so the local store and CloudKit store are opened cleanly.
Using Sync details
Open More › Data › Sync details to see whether iCloud Sync is requested in Settings and active for this launch, any setup, send, or receive activity observed on this device, the last successful sends and received updates, and an unresolved iCloud issue that needs attention.
What the status can confirm
Sync details reports only activity Tended has observed on this device. A successful send or receive does not prove that every other device is fully up to date, because Apple controls CloudKit timing. There is no force-sync button. If you share diagnostics, they include technical status, dates, and error codes — never journal content or iCloud account details.
Private CloudKit
Tended stores synced records in your private CloudKit database. Apple handles the sync transport between your devices. Cocoacorn does not run an account server for your journal and does not receive analytics about your entries.
Backups are different
iCloud Sync is live syncing, not a replacement for a backup. Automatic Backups save dated backup files to iCloud Drive when iCloud Sync is on, while manual Backup & Restore creates a complete file you can save or share yourself.
Review your iCloud sync
Understand your current sync choice and status.
You can review these choices without changing them. Use the normal app controls only if you decide a change is useful.

Review your iCloud sync: steps
- Read the current status In Data, read the iCloud Sync setting and its explanation. A requested change may require restarting Tended.
- Inspect sync details When Sync details is available, open it to review recent activity and issues. Do not treat an enabled switch as proof that all records reached another device.
- Keep your records safe If something is missing, allow time and check the status on the devices concerned. Do not delete or restore data simply to make this guide finish.
- Finish your review Tap Done at the end of these steps, or open Guide details and tap Finish review. This finishes the guide; it does not confirm a setting change or transfer.
