Sharing with someone you trust

From the app’s English Help & Guide · Reference release 1.0.33

Your journal is private by default. You choose which sharing features to enable and who can receive them. Selected shared records can receive later updates within the permissions you saved.

How sharing is organised

More › Sharing / Self-care is grouped into three sections so you can find what you need fast:

• Carer connection — the live link with someone who looks after you. Share with Carer, Quick Needs, and Between us all live here and only appear when a carer connection is active. • Reference cards — personal references you maintain for yourself, share when you choose (How I’m Doing, What Helps, My Flare Plan, Emergency Info Card). • Periodic summary — the scheduled PDF digest (Regular Summary).

Share with Carer

Share daily health summaries with a recipient through Supported. Connections and episodes are private unless separately selected for that recipient. Notes and photos need separate permission. Review the dedicated Share with Carer article before enabling sharing.

Quick Needs (Tell my carer)

Once Share with Carer is active, send a single-tap signal — “I need quiet,” “I need water,” “I need help” — from the timeline, your Apple Watch, or Siri. Designed for flare days where opening a conversation is too much. See the dedicated Quick Needs help topic.

Between us

A two-way private journal you and a paired carer can both write in — short notes, encouragement, things to remember between visits. It sits inside the carer connection because it only makes sense once someone is paired; if you turn off Carer connection, Between us disappears with it. Your main journal stays private except for records you separately choose to share.

Entries already available on this device appear while iCloud is checked. If there are no entries available yet, a loading indicator appears first. A failed refresh keeps entries already on screen; use Try again or pull down to refresh.

How I’m Doing

A simple traffic light — green, amber, or red — that shows how you’re doing right now. Tended can suggest a level based on your day rating and energy, or you can set it yourself. Add an optional short message. Share as an image via Messages, or show it on your home screen widget.

My Flare Plan

A personal reference card you write when you’re feeling well so it’s ready when you need it. Lives in the Reference Cards section. During a flare, open it from More › Sharing / Self-care or from the Flare Mode screen — text is shown large and high-contrast. See the dedicated My Flare Plan help topic.

Emergency Info Card

A printable card with your conditions, current medications (including doses, schedules, and taper plans), allergies, and emergency contacts. Auto-populated from your journal data so it’s always up to date. Export as PDF or add as a Lock Screen widget.

Regular Summary (Tended+)

A scheduled summary — daily or weekly — that you can share with someone you trust. Includes your capacity history, how you’ve been doing, top symptoms, and medication adherence. Journal reflections are never included. Generated via Background App Refresh and saved to iCloud Drive for you to share when you’re ready. Requires Tended+.

What Helps

An auto-generated reference showing foods, activities, medications, and other items that appeared more often in your better-day records. It does not establish that an item is safe, helpful, or effective. Share it as a PDF when the observation is useful for discussion or planning.

Condition Translator

Generate a plain-language explanation of your condition tailored to a doctor, employer, or friend. Based on your actual journal data. See the dedicated Condition Translator help topic for full details.

Shared Notes on Appointments

When sharing is enabled, your appointment details include a Shared Notes section. Someone you trust can add their observations or questions. You review everything before including it in your health report.

Privacy

Personal iCloud sync keeps your own devices up to date; it does not enable sharing with another person. Recipient sharing is separate and optional. You choose the records and permissions for each recipient. Later updates to selected records stay within that saved scope; new records are not automatically selected. You can stop sharing, but delivery may take time and previously exported or imported copies cannot be removed remotely.

Review what you share with others

Review what you want another person to know.

You can review these choices without changing them. Use the normal app controls only if you decide a change is useful.

Two different cards placed in separate open envelopes.

Review what you share with others: steps

  1. Find the relevant sharing feature In Sharing / Self-care, read the available features and open the one that matches what you want to share.
  2. Check recipients and scope Review who will receive information and which information is included. Do not assume every record is shared or that an invitation was accepted.
  3. Keep only your chosen access Use the displayed sharing controls if you want to change access. Leave the settings unchanged if you only came to understand them.
  4. Finish your review Tap Done at the end of these steps, or open Guide details and tap Finish review. This finishes the guide; it does not confirm a setting change or transfer.
Review what you share with others · Fictional example

For illustration only. Nothing here changes your app records.

These fictional details explain the guide; they are not suggested values for your records.

A selected summary for someone you trust

Review both the person and the information, rather than assuming access from an app being installed.

Review what you share with others: troubleshooting

If the other person cannot see information, review the relevant help and invitation status. This guide does not verify another person’s device.
